sealing parcel shelf

i just tuned the new amp and i have a small problem. the 4 speakers on the MDF parcel shelf create a whistling sound with the air being forced through small holes in the metal tray under the custom parcel shelf. when you crank the system up you can feel the air pressure through the holes on your hand. someone suggested using tar matting like you put on your floor pan and heat up so it shrinks and moulds to shape. is that the best way or are there other options? i thought maybe that liquid metal you get in a tube which hardens when it gets air on it. apart from that the system is AWESOME, i'll get pics when i can.

Why not go the other way and port the box in through the parcel shelf?

DONT use silicon !!!

Silicon can fix anything.......except a car.

If you want your pacel shelf to rust quicker than the H.M.A.S. Brisbane, then go for it.

I only learnt this acouple of months back, after the smash repair shop across the road from my work had a new spray booth installed. Some ******** used a carton of silicon tubes to seal it. It had to be dumped, and start again.

My sugestion would be windscreen sealant.

Silicon shouldn't worry the inside of the car though?

I thought the reason why silicon wasn't used as a sealant for windscreens was because it shrinks after a while, letting the water straight back in.

Yes that's right never use silicon to seal windscreens, use windscreen sealer (mastic)..

silicone is acidic, you can smell the vinegar smell in it (acetic acid)
