May I suggest a GFB Stealth BOV.

It has the ability to be changed from plumb back to venting to atmosphere just buy turning the top of it.

They can be loud, but not overly loud.

It depends on what you want.

If you want pure noise, probably one with the twin trumpets would be the go.

    hi.
im sort of into vl's but don't know heapz bout them.
is the fluttering sound you want even from the show off valve?
or is it from a dose pipe?
or does the does pipe just magnify it?

So u want a BOV that flutters? i would be cheaper to get a dose pipe, and then u can change the pitch, loudness etc etc. btw u need a cooler to dose it.

From my limited knowledge on the whole dose bullsh*t I gather that no bov causes the fluttering, which isn't always a high pitched noise, it all depends on what you have connected to your inlet of your turbo.
No way to relieve excess pressure from the t/b back so it gets vented back out of the turbo's inlet, through the blades and if you have a dose pipe, through the pipe, if not its back out into the airbox or through the pod. Which would break up the sound.

However, with a bov once you've reached the limit that your bov is set too you get your high pitched trumpet or pssht noise, depending on the bov.

Reading the first post I'm under the impression that your bov is set to relieve pressure after so many psi, which is why its only really making noise when your getting under it, all other times I believe the noise you are hearing is just excess pressure coming back out through the inlet of the turbo.

is a bov still used to dose?

    cheers
    NO
And you can NOT "dose it" when u have a BOV.

U can get special bov's that do differnt sounds etc.

A bov isnt forced open by the boost in the crossover pipe, it is sucked open by the vacume on the other side of the throttle body (in the plenum), thats what the hose on the little on top of BOV is for.

A valve that opens under pressure (forced open by boost) is called a bleed valve. DO NOT CONFUSE THE TWO.

The tone of the dose is changed by the lengh, width and degree of bend in the pipe.

Getting a studdering sound out of a bov would be possible depending on the spring and the amount of vacum ur motor makes.

Heres my idea of getting a BOV to flutter, Example... say your car makes 10psi of vacum in 5 secs, and your bov is set to go off at 8psi, once the plenum is back to 8psi the bov will close, and the motor will make more vacum instantly thus rasing vac to 10 again and forcing the bov open.

dont quote me, correct me if im wrong.

i kno what this guy is trying to say my mate has the same sort of bov on his silvia its not a dose it just makes a sort of dose sound when changing at low revs and then when giving it shit it does the classic bov sound, as for one that does the dose sort of sound all the time im unsure mate, and also if you like the sound of the bov's that do that you would love a dose pipe lol dose it more high pitched rather than the low pitch bov, hope that helps some how lol
