Default vt thermo fans in a vl auto

i'm looking at buying a thermo fan setup from a vt and i was wondering if anyone had any info on the install procedure? it's going into a vl auto and i've read that the trans cooling lines might pose a slight problem. also what other parts do i need? ie thermostat to tell the fans to turn on, or extra wiring or relays etc. any help would be appreciated

you'll need a thermo switch to tell the fans when to come on. i think the switch out of a sigma may be compatible. you will probably need to make up the brackets or modify the vt one.

cheers. whereabouts does the switch end up getting fitted to the engine? does it receive a signal from the ecu or is it an analogue switch (thermostat type)? is it worth going doing the conversion? when i use my a/c in summer my temp gauge goes up to half, i've been told that's normal for a vl, but will this conversion help much?

its not going to make that much difference. you'll get a little bit more power by removing the viscous fan. the switch looks like a temp sender.

If you want to make life easier on yourself steer clear of the VT's. Grab a set of EF/EL Falcon twin thermos which will fit in like they were made for it. As for switching them on if you want to do it simply head down to SuperCheap and grab one of the Davies Craig thermatic switches. These run in the radiator hose and you just turn the dial to the temp you want them to come on at.
