i got defected the today for my car being to low it is higher than 10 cm from the lowest point of the car to the ground but the cop mesured someware else around the back wheel (didnt see were) then told me my suspension was to low and it was i was sitting at 275 mm when i should be 295 mm? im confused is there somewere else they can mesure other than the lowest point of the car to the ground..
yeah you measure from the guard to the center of the wheel to get your suspension height.
YES if its from the gaurd to the centre of my rim im fine its 315 mm didnt think king spring lows were that low what do you think i should do about this im not paying to have a veichle inspection of i dont have to..the cop was a real wanker aswell..real ****y and smart arsed but i knew it wasnt to low
If he's sent you to regency i reckon you'l prob have to go,but def take your car to somewhere that does suspension get them to measure the ride height & write it down, then take it to the cop shop and show em.you may be able to get out of it,Thats if it is legal.
you get those sort of cops, complete wankers, Ive been doen over some of the most trivial bullshit but have also been let off with cautions by more reasonable cops for various odd driving indiscretions... depending what state you're in you can complain if you know full well your cars legal, but most times its more hasle than its worth and government RTA knows it, I'll have to bruch up on the legalities of lowered springs before i do mine i guess.
yeah everything on my car is legal ill just take it to a suspension place and get them to mesure it properly for me..means ill have to drive a defected carbetta not get seen then
the 100mm is from the lowest point on your car, doesn't have to be guards, you could have a piece of exhaust hanging down. a piece of suspension. anything
the measurement from guard to center of rim is to guage suspension travel, the car has to retain 2/3 travel of original setup, doesnt leave much room to play with really. most lowered cars that are above the 100mm height usually wont pass the 2/3 travel.
the car must have been sitting on a odd surface, did he measure both sides? or just the one? because the other side was probably much higher.
It's funny you know, because my car got pulled up the other week and I thought I would've walked away with a few thousand dollars worth of defects, but only got a verbal warning, for the horn not working.
Said nothing about it being too low and it has ultralows.
u got a decent cop maybe? did he check the height? what stuff did he check?
maybe he gives defects on the important aspect of cars, having a non working horn stops you alerting pedestrians or other cars of problems.
a low car doesnt do that.
