VL commodore auto doesn't shift automatically

I have recently put a recoditioned auto transmission in my commodore. After hours of rolling on the ground and hard work the auto will not shift gears automatically. The car goes, I can change gear manuallybut ounce in drive it stops working. What have I done wrong? What should I do next? I do not want to pull it out unless absolutely necessary.

It did shift ok before it was reconditioned.

Any ideas

How do you test the electronic unit that controls the transmission operation.

Check that the vacuum lines are connected properly at both ends. On the manifold and on the passenger side of the box too.
