Default new commodore ride too hard and noisy

I was recently driven around on local roads that Im familiar with in a near new commodore of the previous model, just an ordinary commodore, not a sporty one and was shocked at how bumpy, hard and noisy the suspension and ride were
the ride was so bad that I wouldnt have wanted to have owned or driven the car
at the age of 65, Ive driven many cars over the years and admittedly some were too soft riding with too much soft rubber insulation, but this car was much harder riding than my VL, I think they have gone too far, not everyone wants to be able to count every pothole and tar join in the roads, average drivers dont want a car set up for racing, especially with our lower speed limits now

Commodores are more focused on being "drivers cars" than the falcons although with the BA onwards ford are changing their direction it would seem. Crisp responsive handling and super soft ride don't go together usually, but not to say that its impossible to get the combination right there is always a trade off in a certain area to focus on another area and cost is also a factor. Why have different spring rates across the range when you can have just one and save money.

My sister has a VY 'S' and I thought it was a bit wish washy for a car with sports suspension. I dunno

It is all a matter of personal taste. The Commodore follows the European taste of firmer ride and a more "sporty" feel. The Falcon is generally more softly sprung and follows the American tastes. If you want to drive a boat go buy a Falcon.

Furthermore, my VYII SS is a ton softer than my VP GTS which rides like a go-cart. It is all relative - go buy the car that suits you. The population at large don't seem to have much of a problem with the current feel - Holden are selling heaps of 'em!

I'll bet the vyIIss handles better than the vp gts too? They just keep gettin better and eventually they'll find the perfect setup! (hopefuly)

Actually it doesn't. It shits over any stock Holden VP but the GTS can push a *lot* harder around bends. The VY is definatly a lot stiffer in the body and accellerates quicker but I'd prefer the VP in the twisties.

PS - took a VE Clubby for a fang today - they are a definatly weapon!
