    Default Trimatic leak- reversing

Hey guys, i need some help with a transmission leak. It only leaks when reversing, but it dumps alot of fluid.
It started after I smashed the car but I only hit the rear end of the car. The diff moved a fair bit so it could be that the tail shaft broke the seal in the back of the trans.
Anyone got any other ideas? Let me know.
    Cheers, Craig.

I'd give it a steam clean, let it dry, then blow some talcum powder on it, then take it for a drive round the block. Then get it on stands/ramps and have a good look. Could be simple like a old, cracked rubber hose, could be a cracked extension housing.
Only 1 way 2 find out- good luck.....

In the back of the tail shaft yoke (the bit that goes in the gearbox) is a metal disk (plug) that stops the oil that goes past the splines from leaking out, so check that too if you can't see the leak!!
I was confused now I'm just not so sure!!

the oil seal has ribs on it that help push any oil that gets past back into the box, but that only works when in a foreward gear, in reverse it does the opposite, if any oil gets past it spits it out, just do the rear seal $5, should be fine.
but if the diff has moved heaps what sometimes happens is that you have pushed the output shaft inwards and pushed a few bearings out of place or even cracked something... if you think thats a possibility, i'd get it checked out

Sweet, thanx heaps guys I might just change the seal and see if that fixes it. I got a T700 in the shed that I wanna have rebuilt and put that in the car, but the diff cost enough for now
