I have got a head unit from '86 vl exec it has just over 110,000k's on the odometer it's the one with a dial clock not the digital one. I was wondering if this would be worth anything to anybody? if so I will put it in the trading post section of the JC forum

maybe it could have been wound back?
or is it urs
or i didnt read the tread properly lol
Keeping in mind its illegal to wind back the km's.
I brought the car defected he told me for rust, tyres and steering play the rust under the rear window was the worst one I've seen you could see in the boot. it sat in the street outside his house for 18mths when I got my vl I went and knocked on his door and asked if he wanted to sell it I got it for $500 towed it home put a little oil in left it for a while turned the key and it started and ran beautifully I put put the motor in another one I had on gas it was really good. when I stripped the rest I noticed things like suspension bushes engine mounts trans mount were all in really good condition and appeared to me to be factory. NO DODGEY SH!T FROM ME!

How about the drivers side door latch assembly? Apparently I have one with the spring snapped that holds it firmly in the lock postion and by jiggling the handle you can open the "locked" door....
Noticeable when you turn the key by it being really smooth and easy to lock/unlock - no clunk as you turn the key.
Havent actually looked at it yet as it is my daughters car and she just rang me and is dropping over tonight.
If you have one are you interested in selling - how much?
seacomms I've got boxes of parts + defected wagon on gas for parts note my location if you want it CHEAP! not sure what its worth so maybe ten bucks to get it off for you plenty of other parts to for that list your daughter made for ya to.

In NSW if car has ran out of rego for 3 months you need a blue slip. When ya get a blue slip and go to the RTA for rego it erases all data of Km's on the car. So you can possibly put a dash with lower kms on it. The person at the RTA also said it's a 19-20 year old car who knows how long you'll have the car for... So they don't seem to care too much about old cars with dash that has lower kms than it has really done.
I thought the RTA would check VIN numbers. Hence the whole point of REVS checks etc. But if you can get away with it go for your life, but on a 1987ish VL, if its less then 150 these days I will not believe you unless it has Books. And even still I don't care because it's more then likely going to cop a rebuild.
I honestly don't see the point of winding back k's
