i just bought a VL 87 model Wagon, for $350, it was only running on 3 cylinders and sounding like a dog, brought it home, cleaned out all the plugs, still no start, did a compressoin test on the valves, and all were running at about 175, got it running this arvo and blew alot of blue smoke, thinking it could be the piston guides or the rings, but that should show in the compression test, thinking it might be something stupid like the fuel filter.
Kinda stuck, would be great if anyone could help out. cheers
a workshop manual is helpful
elleries isnt bad but contains several errors such as advising to turm the auto trans selector sideways to remove console cover
I expect you meant worn valve guides, a common cause of blue smoke
with the 6cyl
you must be aware of the bleeder bolts on top of the intake manifold and the need to undo them and force water in until it flows from both or a cracked head is certain
well if all else fails they sell rb30's at wrecker for around $225... i went though some stock ones in my time![]()
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
