Default where do i go now?

well there is a time in every mans life when they want more power and that time has come

i have some conditions to it though, NOT turboing the car and in future wanting to put a efi 304 in so what can i do.

    got the basics
    -full exhaust systems
-CAI, panel filter, afm mesh gone and custom intake pipe to go on soon
    -manual
-8mm leads, all good condtion sensors, tuned well and at stock timing and cam timing

what is there i can really do?
a while ago i asked a head recon specialist about cams for vls and he said that the problem is that no longer lifters are in production so custom one are needed, is this true or he just trying to milk money out of me?
anything cams people can reckomend for a N/A rb30 and info on them please,
i keep hearing about WADE cams but didnt find much on the rb30 cam specs (well i did but i dont understand it )

Is there any thing with the computer that can be done? not talking a grand for a full haltek or what ever but dyno tuning or eproms changes (is anyone willing to make something as i would be intressted), ive been looking at the cheapo ebay jobs and thinking that there is not much more i can do but get one and try. i just keep getting put off from them by the idea of them not having any real gains just gains in your head and only making you run rich and chew fuel up.

cheers for any help and tips

also i know about brakes and that is being sorted in a month or so and the suspenion is all up to the standreds and caperable of holding up,

to be honest make its not worth doing if your going to put an efi 5ltr in it... you wont get much when it comes time to sell the rb30, spend your money on things like what u said, brakes suspention and all the stuff you will need to do the conversion later down the track, i was told by a few peformance shops when i was thinking about a cam for my old 3ltr vl that i was better off leaving the stock cam in
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!

There are no real performance cams for the RB30e, you may find some, but as the 4, 6 and 8 shop told me when I had my VL, the prices are ridiculous and the gains miniscule. In N/A form, there is little you more you can do mate.

shave the head to up the compression or try one ebay, i saw these motorised intaking things, susposively works like an electric supercharger, or i have also seen in shops like autobarn, electric turbos, don't know how effective these parts would actually be but theres a susgestion.
Soon to be back on the road, Turbo VG.

yah electric super charges for the intake, they were coverd awhile ago and it was proved/said that they would not be able to move enough volumtric air to have any gains for a 3ltr,

    but cheers for the suggestion,

looks like its the end of the vls n/a motor, time to save and move on

    yes true i can,
but with the price to do it and the little gain (140rwkw or soo) i see no point, for less or near the same price i can do the v8 conversion which also has more options in future where the super charger route really dies off.

i've been stuffing around with tuning these motors for a few years now and i reckon i've got it sussed. do this:

    1. advance the static timing to 20 degrees and run premium. i tell you that is the best thing to do to them. i have had mine on 20 degrees now for over 3 years at least (previous owner had it at 22 for who knows how long)...those chips on ebay just up the timing and fuel but who knows if the person writing them knows what they are doing.

    2. get a multimeter and tune the afm to 3.55V mixture (somewhere around 380ohms usually). its all in my troubleshooting/maintenence thread how to do it

i was enquiring about chips for rb30s from powerchip and asked them if their bronze chip (claiming 124kw on premium) would be much better than what i have now (backyard tune with timing advanced and mixtures altered). his answer to me was to not worry about the chip because i would notice minimal gains because i have pretty much already done what the chip does (to a slightly lessor extent of course).

so in short just go to supercheap or whatever and get yourself a timing light $50 and a multimeter $15 and get out there and have a go at tuning it. you'll learn a lot and i'll guarantee you'll be happy with the results. on the other hand if you can't be ****ed doing it yourself just save your money for the v8. i don't know you but some people are scared to get in there and have a go or they just can't be bothered

let me know how you go

Any links? There is nothing in the Crow Cams catalogue still...

What gains can be made with these cams though? Just because there ARE cams available, doesn't mean they are necessarily worth it.

The 4, 6 and 8 shop is on main north road near auto perfection... Between mark ricciuto car sales and Sefton Plaza.
