i thought i'd keep you all up to date on whats going on with my vlt conversion. i've been offered another vl for $2500. its unregistered but.........
it has:- rb25 or rb26 head
big turbo
intercooler
bosch 044 fuel pump
bigger injectors
aftermarket computer (assuming as it has bigger injectors)
5 speed manual
i haven't looked at it yet but the body is supposedly average. if the body is no good i'll swap the driveline to my car and vice versa and sell the car for @$1500. the car supposedly loses traction when you hit 3rd gear at 120km/hr.
so if i do buy this car i've got for sale a 5 speed rb20det box and EVERYTHING for a vl conversion including machined flywheel, tailshaft, peddle box, master & slave cylinders WITH rebuild kits (as the seals are probably dried out) and new clutch kit with thrust bearing and spigot bush, centre console piece and the plate for underneath on the transmission tunnel, cross member and new mounts, the one piece spacer plate for between the engine and bellhousing, and the manual NA computer (courtesy of BAX)............. NO I WILL NOT SEPARATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey mate just wondering ig you are located in Sydney. As I just sold my VL and now working on my project Berlina VL. It's only now that it's blowing white smoke. How much would you sell the Engine and the decompression plate for?
Or is it better to source a RB30 from a wrecker and replace the other one. Just wondering if you any idea how much it'll set me back by.

i'm not selling the engine, sorry. and there's no decompression plate. i bought a spare motor from a wreckers for $250. complete except for starter motor. it WAS a running engine til i stripped it to rebuild.
white smoke, especially on decelerating, can be from a worn out PCV valve
the fact that they always eventually wear out isnt mentioned often
new VL ones are available but not cheap, it screws in from what I remember
also a PCV valve blocked up with muck will cause many problems
well its definately got a rb26dett head on it. i'll be going out for a test drive through the week.
well the bloke ended up selling the car to someone else. then they turned around and wanted him to deliver it over 500kms away so now i have been reoffered the car. i am going out today to buy it.
so i now have complete 5speed conversion available, v8 disc rearend (turbo axles) and a rb25det engine for sale in the 'for sale' section.
ripped off. its a bog stock rb25det engine in a vl. the body is shot too. it goes pretty hard but still. i'd have to redo the plumbing, rewire it, remount the intercooler as it sits almost a foot in front of the car, new timing belt and water pump are needed etc etc. a mate said i was an idiot for not taking it, he reckons i should put it in mine and keep building my other engine but i'm not made of money. so i'll keep plodding along with my project.
