    Default removing berlina/calais door strips/trims?

    hello,
i have a found a berlina/calais wagon at the wreckers with the 2 piece door trims (plastic bits on the outside oof the doors ) and just wanted to know what tools i'll need to take them off? And will wagon trim bits fit on a sedan?
    cheers, Pat

not sure if they fit, maybe get them off and see if they match up with a sedan at the wreckers.

just an idea, try fishing line, and slice through it. might have to use it like a sa, not sure.

i think if you could get one there and power it, a hot air gun would make the job alot easier.

good luck, let me know how well the line works as i need a new mould for my vl
    my web site
stuff on the XF throttle body conversion, calais interior and lots of other junk!

ok, I tried to pull them off, but it didn't work. If you just have the one's that are like a big as your palm then just pull on them and they will come off and for the little ones behind the wheel i used a coat hanger to pull them off.

Cheers for the info and i'll post me info when i try.

You really only need 2 tools, a 2" paint scraper (to lever up the mould), and an extending blade knife (to cut the sikaflex off). Most trims are either glued (sikaflex) or d/sided tape, or both. Mine were s#itloads of both
First, the door strips have a pin on each end (try not to break it) Lever the mould up just enough to get the knife blade in and start slicing, moving the scraper along as you cut. Cut from the top first, then along the bottom. Depending on how much sikaflex is on it, it might take 5 minutes or twenty minutes. Took me 1/2 hour to do all four doors of mine.
    Hope this helps.
