I heard that on the VL, water can leak in thru the radio aerial base, run along the cable and drop down onto the ECU computer......
Silicone the hole up so it aint come in :P
Have not heard that b4 or experianced that.
But u never know
yeah pretty unlikely... i shaved the hole on my old vl... who listens to radio anymore?
Going where no late model stato/caprice has gone before.... GAME ON!!
I haven't heard of that before but any things possible with the vl, one I had recently had rust damage on the ecu but more likely from windscreen rust! I have an 88 fivespeed that has got plastic taped around the ecu, (well protected) any water in that one would also be the windscreen.

yes duct tape or similar seems a good idea, someone said use a plastic bag but this cant be got over it on the side next to the car
plastic bags are ideal.get to your ecu THEN 1. remove screws retaining lower mounting bracket 3-5 screws remove mounting bracket 2.move ecu downwards to disengage from the top bracket. no need to disconnect any harnesses! bag and/or tape it up. 3. replace it in reverse NOTE, making sure the harness dose not get caught between the ecu and the bracket! very easy job.

but would be baging it be dangrous? im just assuming that the ecu will generate heat like most pcs do or am i wrong

So you're worried about the water running in from the aerial itself, then along the aerial cable and dropping off the sheathing onto the ecu?
If so, why not just put a loop in the aerial cable inside the panel? Water cant travel uphill
The Red Dot indicates the entry point
