Im going to rip the 5 litre and traumatic out of my VL and whack it into a LH torry <--- I reckon the torry will go faster
I want to put the bottle on it but I dont know much about it.
I was looking at the NOS Sniper kit as a starter. I dont know what has been done to the engine but its best time down the 1/4 in the Vl is a 14.66 running 3.08 spooled diff.
Can anyone help ?

With that sort of time it has had some work done to it.
What size shot of nos were you intending to give it?
Ahh not sure yet, thats why im asking. whats a good place to start, I was thinking 100-150hp kit
mate with just the weight reduction from vl to torana it will feel like its already got a shot of nos up its @rse i would see how it goes first before deciding weather or not to nos
I think you would be better off starting with a 25 - 50 shot. I would be getting the motor inspected atleast before trying to give it a 100 or 150 shot.
Its going to get NOS regardless, Just how much is the question. Its not a daily driver, its just something to run 1/4's with and fry some tyres.
Can you get a 25-50 kit ? The smallest I saw was the 100-150 kit, only $480 too.
Im going to put a gasket kit through the engine as a bare minimum before putting it in the torry. Might check out the bearings and see if they are in good shape when I change the sump over
Yep, can get a 25. Have seen it being installed into a standard V6 Magna VRX.
You will want an ARP head stud kit so the heads dont lift from the block when you hit the gas. The NOS kit should come with different size nozzles which give different size shots. IMHO 50hp is a good figure for a daily driver and will be healthier for your engine than say 100-150 hp shot.
You wont find much of a weight saving in going from a VL to a LH I used to have a UC and for the size of the car they are quite heavy, say 1350kg for a VL 5.0 and 1250+kg for an LH 5.0, Plus the VL has the slippery shape while the torana has the aerodynamics of a wallunit. I do love the torries but having owned both I know which is better to live with.
Cheers for the info.
I will order a set of studs for the heads, Do I need to run different head gaskets ?
The torry is definately lighter. it has had all the trim, carpet and anything else that we thaught had any weight to it. To do that to the Vl its alot of work. We figured it was easier to rip the 6 out of the torry and chuck the 8 in.
Although the Vl is a nice ride. THe torry is going to do it in style..
