    Default How can I tell if its LSD?

    I got a vl turbo, not running, how do I find out if its lsd, if i turn the drive shaft, should both wheels turn the same way or what? any advice appreciated. thanks

    if you turn the shaft both wheels will turn the same way if its LSD or not.

    jack the rear of your car up by the diff, spin one wheel with your hand, if the other is spinning the same way it's LSD. if the other one spins in the opposite direction it's a single spinner.

    when i bought my replacement diff, i turned the shaft and both went the same way i got all excited before i realised i turned the shaft not one of the wheels :P

    the surest way is to jack up one rear side and place a piece of wood holding the wheel off the ground in a way that wont hurt anything if the car moves forward, then attempt to drive forward, if it moves theres a LSD thats working, many LSDs eventually stop working
    drive a tight circle on a sealed road and check for bumping or windup in case the diff is locked up
