Default poor quality fuel vapour hose

the VL has a complicated fuel vapour collection system from the petrol tank, on the wagon, part of it can be seen by removing the rear inner mudguard plate on the fuel filler side, I expect the sedan is the same

it all seems to go to a line that I expect goes forward to the carbon cannister

problem is that holden used cheap clear plastic tubing and this hasnt lasted well, it breaks easily and may well be broken on your VL, allowing petrol fumes to be smelt outside

I agree that given the chance, you should replace as much of the plastic/rubber hose as you can.

Mine disintegrated...i saw a few drops of fluid on the drive, put my hand up to investigate the cause and came back down with fragments of pipe in my hand

So wheeled the car down the drive (bloody scary cause it was on a hill like \ and then ripped the fuel tank out and all the lines and replaced them.

Prior to problem and after fixing problem did your fuel tank discharge pressure when you cracked the fuel cap ? Anyone else care to comment ?
