    Exclamation Tank pressure

Oops pressed wrong key. Question. Should my VL wagon have pressure in the fuel tank when I crack the cap.If yes then anyone have any previous experience which would explain the absence of pressure in mine. Also has anybody got any specs on fuel pressure to and from tank and info on where to crack lines to test them

maybe your breather hose is shot allowing the pressure to escape!
didn't you say something about a workshop manual?
any way test your pressure a the high pressure fuel pump under the car and at the inlet hosein the engine bay should read around 250kpa

p.s. depressurise the fuel system before cracking any hoses! (start the car and remove fuse no. 3 and wait til the engine stops then put the fuse back set up your pressure gauge and test it!)

there shouldnt be any pressure and I dont see how there could be as theres a fume removal system, using about 4 plastic hoses that goes to a charcoal canister
these hoses often are broken, due to use of poor quality plastic, some of them can be seen by removing the tinware behind the tyre on the filler side, but with hoses broken, it vents to the outside air
I think the fuel cap shouldnt be vented

Ive never bothered to use the fuel de pressurisation priocedure, on the advice of a mechanic, I simply wait 5 minutes and all pressure is then gone

On mine it looks like the hoses in behind the plate have been replaced already as they are all rubber but 1 has a split in it( the 1 at the very top of the filler neck) tomorrow I'll fix that.
I was confused now I'm just not so sure!!
