Default Electrical issues involving headunit and starter motor

    Hi folks.

My starter motor died y'day. Due to working the late shift last night, it was necessary for me to address the issue asap. I called out racv parts to install a new one for me. Anyway, last night found me jumpin into the hot seat and heading to work, but was shattered to discover my stereo was getting no power watsoever (dead as a door post).

I'm aware the mechanic would have disconnected the battery terminals to install the new starter motor, but surely it would not have resulted like this?? Is it possible he managed to blow a fuse? or am i overlooking somethin extremely simple ere? just wondering what possibilities i should be considering...

    Thanks heaps guys

    Really appreciate ur time

What sort of head unit is it? Some need a code put back in them after you disconnect the battery before they will work.

    Radio Fuses???
In your engine bay under the Black Fuse Cap on passanger side look for the Diagram which has RDO on it(Under Lid). it will have other abreviations of the accessories along with that fuse as in say........
RDO/Wiper/Fan. Anyways look for one with RDO and check the fuse as it may be blown.
Replace if u need to with appropriate Amp fuse and check Radio.
If no luck pull out your headunit and check the fuse on the back of the radio usually under the Main wiring loom it is about 20- 25 Amp
    Replace and check again.
    Goodluck
Let me know how u go :P

some units have another fuse in the back, if the fuse box doesnt help pull it out adn have a look. check it by direct wiring it.
i used to have a problem whereby the starter motor would engage when i selected teh area between drive and reverse on the t-bar at teh same time the stereo would cut out. must be some relationship there.
