Thread: Upgrade to Turbo. Im pumped for it

    Talking Upgrade to Turbo. Im pumped for it

    Hey fellas just a quick one to tell you all that im putting a turbo in my Commie
    Feel free to comment about anything(nice ones)
    Basically i want more power out the L
    I purchased a $1500 To4E turbo retail(checked make and model on google) for $350 on the trusty Ebay
    Turbo Specs:

    3 inch inlet
    *
    2 inch outlet
    *
    Flange- T3/T4 flange (straight bolt-on)
    *
    Wheel rating- stage III wheel
    *
    Compressor- .60 A/R compressor
    *
    Turbine- .63 A/R turbine
    *
    Turbine wheel- forged turbine wheel

    *turbo is rated upto 600hp

    Boost Gauge for $20 and a Turbo Manifold (High mount Mandrel bent SU304 Stainless steel) for $177 Ebay once again.

    I Also have a Rising Rate fuel Regulator, and am teeing up a 35mm or 38mm External Wastegate.

    Once i got all the bits i go to work. i will update and show pics of the installation, you may be intereseted in.

    I have a mate who works for a performance workshop and has inspired me to do this. Im one happy bugger until i accidantly put too much boost in and shoot out a piston through my bonet and kill a low flying duck.

    It wont, you really think your going to get a good turbo for $350? i think not

    also that manifold probebly would flow any better (maybe even worse?) then a standerd low mount manifold due to the colectors on them

    you cant expect big power without spending the money it wont happen

    i have an ebay turbo on my vn and it is fine. nothing wrong with it.. i also have a su304 manifold on my ca18det. it went black but does flow a sh_tload better than the stock one.. hopefully your vl one is the same..

    ALot of people well tell you that a mate of a mate of a mate had a chinese turbo and it blew up. Show me more than 5 people that have actually had one and destroyed it and I'll be a believer untill then I'll say it's 90% bull**** . And I can also show you plenty of people that have blown up Garrett turbos anyway

    How many garretts do you hear of blowing up? maybe with 60,000km's of use

    yes you can buy good rb26dett runs a master power which i think is a chinese turbo but not so budget look at that turbo it doesnt even have a brand or anything on it

    your engine would blo b4 the garret, you'd have pistons poppin out everywhere lol. yeh the whole mate of a mate thing, every1 has a ******** mate who takes his car beyond the point it can handle, its just normal

    think about it


    cheap turbo $350
    cheap turbo rebuild once it blows up $500~

    so theres 850 bucks in which you could buy a kkr which are a prity good turbo the only down side is there bush bearing

    do it once, do it right

    How much PSI do you plan to run at? How much does a standard VLT run at?

    standerd vlt runs 6/7psi
