I have a 88 vl and sadly the drivers side bonnet hinge has broken.
the retaining/pivot bolt appears to have sheared.
because of the location of the fixing point, up back and out of sight, it is really hard to get at.. anyone have any bright hints on easy ways to sort this please
thanks
I'm not 100% but I think you need to remove the fender.
I was confused now I'm just not so sure!!
RIP Peter (perfect) Brock....
no it doesnt have a removable plate
so it looks like i will have to remove the wing to access the hingeing point... bit of a drag, i was hoping there was a way to do this without having to do that...
believe it or not holden dont have details of the hinge bolt... and the parts are no longer available..
but i have had a bright idea...
if i cut a hole, say 50mm in dia in the outer skin of the offside guard, in the right place, this may give me access to the inner skin and hopefully allow me to remove the old broken stub of the bolt, cos theres no way to access from under the bonnet.
i can then replace the sheared bolt with one from a wreckers and then refill the hole and respray the guard
