    my vl is a 86/87 and not sure wat block it is how can i tell and why r s1 blocks ****

    when you look on the drivers side of the block you will see 3 plugs(bolts) if its a s2 if there is nothing you have a s1 block

    the holes are there for the oil and coolant lines for a turbocharger so that is why s1 blocks are homosexual.

    build date is another way, mid 87 they switched. so if your 86/87 then it is highly likely you've got an s1 block
