Unhappy Replacing Ignition Asembly on a VL

    HI

I almost caught sum fu**ers trying to steal my car not long ago..
Was parked in front of my house...they smashed window and ripped out ignition..they didnt know about the immobilizer and alarm went off...
I ran out and they jumped in car and sped off (a dark blue VL)...
I managed to note they'r rego no. and Police are pending the investigation...no doubt that car was probably also stolen....:/

    Anyways..

I attached a photo of the damage done to my ignition and am wondering how much approx its going to cost me to get this fixed, how to go about it (weather i can just get the parts from just commodores & try installing my self, or can JC do it for me?..is so how much extra ect..)

PS. Car still starts by inserting the silver metal ignition piece back inside and using key to start as normal but wont stay in obviously.

    Any help would be great.
    Thnx

I WONDER HOW THEY GOT THE LOCK OUT, i thought the VL had been made harder to defeat the steering lock

a workshop manual would explain how to replace it but perhaps some damage has been done

someone tried to force my passengers door lock, wrecked the key part but didnt get in

u can just buy a new barrel and slide it in ..... id say they just broke the metal key thats on the barel witch holds it in place inside the column case......

its why early commos are so easy to steal coz u can just reef the barrels out
