Whats the go with the spark plugs..

Serouis, i dint take notice of my ngk ones lastnight, after i pulled the bosch ones out.. then my mate sends me a txt saying to get bosch plugs... no fken wonder there like a 21 for NGK unlike the bosch which are like 15.. i couldnt find a single tool to fit my NGK's lastnight without carving up the rocket cover.

So i went back today and scored the bosch plugs...

my advice is dont buy NGK plugs for your VL! I've got allot of tools and i had no luck!

Interesting. I use nothing but NGK unless I absolutely can't get around it and I have never had any problems. If you had the correct plug socket you shouldn't have any dramas.

have always used NGK plugs in my vl's there is no diffrence in fitting.

what was the problem, was the sockets out side pushing on the rocker cover not alowing it to reach where the plug is?

simple just get a spark plug socket which fits the plug and is thin walled not chuckny.
it doesnt need to be strong as little tension is need to tight the plug to a sutiable level

Was a hell fof a mission removing plugs 3 and 4 without removing the EFI, had the wacky socket setup happening "bosch plugs so easy to fit" 2 or 3 clicks at a time what a B! the others where easy!

Exactly, or even better, the first of the V6 Sonata's. Jack the engine up to get the back three.

Getting at the passenger side rear extractor bolt is fun on the 351 too.

while were at things that are hard to get. on my dads 93 4.2 petrol Patrol, (besides spark plugs) the rear passenger side exhaust manifold bolt is the biggest pain, its virtually sitting against the firewall behind the manifold. We had to get a socket with a uni joint to get to it then blindly try undo it. Putting it back on was even worse!! seems spark plugs are hard on all nissan straight 6 motors.

VL 6 cyl sparkplugs require a wobble joint or uni joint to allow for some sideways movement of the socket shaft
smashesd insulators from side pressure and crossed threads are a risk

it helps to place some plastic tube over the insulator to help getting the thread started by hand

i allways use ngk .champion are allways no good in holdens i reckon. bosch have let me down before a few times. i have noticed that ngk must be changing there sizes cause i swapped plugs in the fzr1000 and i had too buy a socket too get them out then the new plugs were a different size i actually used the small holden size socket to put the new ones in if i remember right it was a wee while ago.

getting them undone? whats the problem.
as many have said the use of one or two flexable joint/uni joint in the socket is a must to access plugs 3 and 4

a spark plug in a vl is like the oil filters, it should not be done tight to the point it will rip the thread. hand tight is the limit,
being a alloy head it will expand and shrink alot from heat and will cause the plugs to cease in the holes if there tightened to there limits
