    Default cooling probs

last week, before the site crash ,there was a thead on here ,about a member haveing cooling probs ,useing water and no water returning to header tank, a new radiator cap was recomened ,ect ,i have the same prob, and i was checking things yesterday ,and i found the tank had corroded and gone brittle, leaving a split about 4 inches long , could this be the problem using water and not returning to tank, because the system is not sealed ??

I say a crack in your radiator tank would cause problems, tryed some of that radiator seal stuff over it, its like that blue tack stuff...thats if its leaking water from that area?

I take it that the reservior is the thing that has gone brittle and cracked and not the actual radiator? Then yes, when it warms up, coolant flows to the reservior and out the crack, when it cools down there is not enough coolant to return to the radiator so it will be low. Get a new reservior.

driving down the road, takes a left turn.

gravity pulls to the right (out side of car)

petrol in tank goes to the right side of it,
the bottle of distiled water in the boot for the emergency vl over heating problem sloshes to the right
so what does the coolant in the over flow tank do?????

sloshes to the right where the crack is......... sounds about right to me - or you got a leak
