My mate has a stock VL which is a 5 speed but non turbo.
I have an ED falcon 4 speed auto.
Who would win?
I've been told I will whip the VL by a fair bit but wanted to hear opinions from VL owners here.
His is stock and my only mod is a 2.5inch catback exhaust.
What's your opinion?
vls are ****, you'd beat it easily.... on privately owned property ofcourse
VLs are slow. But if he can drive good???? I don't know what a ed falcon is, whats the specs?
i reckon the vl will win mainly due to the weight difference but then again i could be wrong, yours is an auto you might get the jump on him and wind out good and leave him for dead.

hahaahha the vl wil loose, vl's are so so so so so slow, even the turbo'd vls were slow, they only get good when you amp the boost.
aZk.
the ford six makes most of its power in the mid range and top end so with an auto and stall it up a bit and you should be right![]()

yeah it will be close i reckon it depends on a few factors, whether the manual driver can drive? the condition of the vl i.e. km's on motor, running correctly with all sensors operating correctly etc. Mine gets flogged by most 5 speeds and I rip 6cyl falcons (up to ef) regularly. (but mines not stock lol)
like i said it will be close.
Hmmm so say both drivers drive as optimum as possible which car would win?
His has 40 000 more k's on it and my engine is in excellent condition (203psi and serviced every 5000k's.
His also has a gas tank in it (mine probably will too though by the time we drag).
your just lucky i've had an almost identical run myself, i had an EB station wagon 4.0L auto, i went against a 5 speed VL sedan, and ate it by about 4-5 car lengths,
He is just as inexperienced as me at dragging (he hasn't got his P's yet and I've never dragged) so it should be interesting.
Both of us have done a fair bit of hours and are quite decent drivers just inexperienced draggers.
When the time comes, line up, wait for the greens, then go. Who ever has the fastest ET wins, simple as that. Stop wondering about it and throwing theories around, you just want to hear Commodore owners say a Ford will win.
I am amused that this is coming from someone who has a 3.8L V6, that could only run a 15 in stock form, yet you call VLs slow?
VLs aren't that bad. A VL 5 speed still holds its own against later model Falcons and Commodores.
Oh well atleast the VL had a decent motor, unlike the Buick-Ecotec ****. It's funny when V6 faggots think they have the fastest cars on the road. I would rather drive a "slower" VL then a V6 Commonwhore, that sounds like a 1930s tractor.

Go join a Ford forum and get all pumped up by fellow Ford drivers. I just don't see the point in coming on here and asking that question. If he's all "fully sick" and driving you nuts, is he really a mate? Who really cares who will win? It's not going to feed the poor.
ford forum users would just say holdens suck and fords will win.
I wanted an unbiased answer.
The people have been very helpful here and not 1 of them has said "omfg fords suck holdens are awsome".
I am inexperienced and have not driven a VL.
He's actually a good mate of mine lol he's just a revhead and saying he's gonna floor me and it's pissing me off.
I really just want him to shutup and show him fords arent slow family cars.
What do you actually want to acheive anyway? Prove that your Falcon is better? Prove his car is sh*t? What?
Just don't get too arrogant and think it will be a easy win. VL 5 speeds IMO are underrated for what they are.
They rev, and go like a shower of sh*t, when they hit 50Km/h.
I don't want to prove one is better than the other.
To me speed doesn't make a car "better" so if I win, that won't prove my car is better.
I want to achieve him shutting up basically.
The other day he said something like "I'm gonna drill you" so yes he's being a typical revhead who just got his license, this annoys me and beating him will shut him up.
By beating him it will shut him up because he bought the car thinking it would beat any ford.
I honestly don't mind speed, I bought a ford because of the towing advantages.
So if I lose I don't car if my cars slower but he will care that his car is faster.
I'm sure you've seen revhead drivers before and understand.
You should win easily.
Standard VL's are slow.
Yeah.
As I said I like both cars.
I love holden exteriors more than fords but love ford mechanics and interiors more than holdens.
I wouldn't call any of them ****.
But yeah one of our mates who's also brought into this says stupid things like "It's a fact Holdens are faster".
People like that just agitate me.
Actually I just generally hate people who buy cars, for the sole purpose of "beating" someone else.
There are VLs around that would absolutely hand a Falcon its ass, and vice versa.
Some people just don't get that no matter how fast they are, someone will always be faster. Whether it's a VL, ED, Kia, Lada Niva or whatever.
It's not always the car either. Peter Brock (R.I.P) could've beat your mate in a old clapped out 120y, because he was a better driver.
Maybe, but I doubt it.
Alot of the Holden guys know the VL isn't fast, so even they would agree that the ED would win in this case. However if this question was asked on the Ford forums, it would consist of mainly "VL are ****. They're only good because they have a Skyline engine" blah blah blah.
Over the years I've found the Holden guys much more helpful, even though I own a Ford also. Alot of the Ford guys are jack asses, who think they're sophisticated little angels.
In the real world, Holden fans aren't as one eyed as they're made out to be.
