    Default Front bar fitment

    gday guys

    new to the world of vl's i bought one recently without a front bar or re-inforcement...now in the market for a new front bar i was wondering do i need the re-inforcment bar and irons to fit the front bar??

    then the question is how do they fit up

    Basically you have the following set-up.


    Plastic Bumper
    Metal Reinforcing Strip (U Shape Design)
    Front Bumper Supports (Y Irons)

    The metal reinforcing strip fits to the back of the front bumper. The Irons then attach, using 2 bolts on each side to the reinforcing strip.

    This then slides into place and is bolted on the car care of two more bolts each side.

    The holes to bolt the bumper to the body are either side of the radiator, just get under there and have a peek, they're quite noticeable as they're big suckers.

    theres also a separate thin plastic thing called the top trim that sits on top of the front bumper, this plastic is often brittle and breaks easily if the car has been left a lot in the sun
    I think the horn is attached to the back of the bumper but not sure

    try to find a wrecker that may have a VL
    if you have the space, you may think about buying another VL of your type for spares as spares are becoming hard to find, the VL being too old for many wrecking places
