I'm having a strange sound coming from the rear of my car that sounds like a 'gurgling' sound.
It's rather loud and I can't pin point it's location. It's to the rear of the car and the sound starts after the car has been running for about 10 minutes, then once started it stays there even if I turn off the engine for a few moments.
I run duel Fuel but whether I'm running on petrol or Gas the problem continues to persist.
Please help!
Dunno, cmon guys give him a hand.
Exhaust leak?
My wagon also makes strange gurgling noises, but only when the fuel level drops below quarter tank. Is your petrol tank below quarter full? if you are running LPG does the system cut off the petrol supply or allow it to circulate? could be fuel returning to the petrol tank
the GURGGLING sound is from your fuel tank!some people will tell you it is you inertia fuel pump dying and aerating your fuel.
I say it is your return fuel line.the return line is spotwelded to the top of (inside) the tank right above the inertia pump and keeps fuel running over the pump in the swirl pot after time the crap weld brakes and the return line falls in the swirlpot aerating the fuel. the noise will get louder as the tank gets emptier.
SOLUTION: tank out for repairs or replace![]()

this can be caused by removal of the internal fuel pump and fitting a differently shaped bottom filter bag that hits the side of the fuel bowl, stopping the pump from fully sitting down in it, try moving the filter bag around by 180 degrees
its not possible to see how the pump is sitting in the bowl, if its stuck up too high, the car will also run out of petrol too soom
ok he's a friend of mine and last week he replaced his fuel tank (old one had a dint in it).
What could of he done.
He's describing huge rev loss too, Like up a steep hill he has to flat floor.
Hey thanks,
I filled the tank past a quarter and the sounds stopped, after I drove it for a short while.
I was also experiencing a loss of power like as if the car was chugging along which has improved since I put more fuel in.
I recently replaced my fuel tank as the old one had a large dent in it in order to pass a roadworthy. The tank was from the wreckers so it's possible that what you describe is the problem. If I keep the tank over a 1/4 To avoid the sound is this safe? What damage, problems is it going to cause if I leave it as it is?
Also My loss of power and revs as my friend Illavitar mentioned is improved after I run my car on fuel. Is it reasonable to say that after running my car on Gas for an extended period of time the car could run sluggish?
Is the car tuned for Gas or Petrol?
I'd say more so to petrol, I'm going to try and fiddle around with it though, where abouts should it be? towards Gas or petrol or somewhere in the middle?

genrally they are tune to run in between,
as gas has a higher octance of 110ish and the average fuel is 92.
so the cars are normally tuned to run a octane level inbetween to get a average bettween them.
if tuned more to one fuel the car will run bad on the other and resualt in power lose and un econimcal on the less tuned fuel.
my vs has to run on PULP as its tuned to more bias on gas side, if i dont it will ping.
also its recomended that you run at least a tank of petrol every few gas tanks. and on cold mornings start up on petrol and drive till the cars warm then switch to gas.

I think it wont cause damage, just dont allow the tank to get below about a quarter full
Ok yes finally.. someone with some sort of an answer.... I have been getting this exact same problem although mine does it whether I have a full tank or empty, not to mention serious power loss at takeoff or idle.
Runs ok as long as I am on the throttle but the minute I lift it misses and farts again. I miss my old wheel shredding Commodore and If you guys can help me I will be forever indebted to you.
