If your trying to fit a cluster with tacho (ie, berlina, royale, or calais) to an SL, then i'd imagine you'd want to use a Berlina one for a start as it doesn't incorperate useless and hard to wire up lights, such as reverse. But as far as the Voltage, Oil PX, and Tacho senders go, I would have no idea if the wiring/senders exist. Fitting aftermarker pod gauges would be the easiest way to get these readouts but they're not the style of everyone and frankly it seems monster tachos in commodores is a no no. Too rice.

Thats a classic gauge that one.

I've got a Series 2 Calais Dash cluster in my car now, and had one with the tacho previously, berlina I think it is, before that I'm not sure whether there was a clock or who knows.

Even know I don't have all the calais functions light up, low battery warning light (I don't think) Low Battery water level, Reverse Light etc. Basically cause I used the loom I had I connected what was there and got what I had previously.

Have you pulled it apart to see what you have behind there?

I'll try and find you a thread on ozperformance.net where someone has done it before.

there you go, have a read of that and hopefully it will help you out, I know that it certainly helped me because my oil reading doesn't work anymore, which had me confused.

if you put a calais dash in an executive the oil pressure gauge won't work......the executives have a oil pressure switch not a oil pressure sender(as do the calais)the oil pressure gauge will be all the way up as soon as you turn the ignition on. a pressure sender was about $90 when i last asked about one. as for putting the das in all you have to do is take the surrounds off, undo the four screws that hold the dash in, unplug the loom & the speedo cable. 6the rest is just a reversal of the removal...

Yea from what I understand, as long as you use the right six cylinder dash, all will be sweet.

If they are so standard then the wiring for the oil px gauge must be in the loom already surley? I've read about people changing the loom and installing the sender, but like most things im sure its just hanging around. There are tonnes of unused connections in the VL, so a blue wire with a slide connector must be one of these.

Done ive installed a calais dash cluster got prices from $150-$220 but i picked 1 up 4 frickin $30 sweet as cant believe it.

Why do holdens put pov dash cluster in instead of the calais 1 like all the wirings done coulda made it standard.

As for oil gauge if i get a sender it will work???

    Thanks for your help dudes.

I know this isn't going to help, sorry.

Does a standard VL come with Tacho pre-installed, or does that only come in selected models (Berlina/Vacationer/Exec/Calais) I'm sure the calais comes with tacho as my brothers mate has a vl calais with tacho on the cluster..

    I dunno

Berlina & Calais VL's came with Tacho, Voltmeter, and Oil Pressure gauges as extras. The Exec (SL) model came with a clock instead of the tacho.

It is the same. Calais/Berlina have Speedo, Tacho, Volts, Temp, Oil PX, and Fuel, plus a digital clock. Its all in the VL owners manual

My VL sl has tacho, speedo, oil, volts, fuel, temp, and clock

What I've seen of digital gauges, is thre very inacurate. If your buying VDO or other for oil, why not just do a full custom cluster. Then u get what u want where u want!

    Good Luck !!!

Hi guys, first post on here. I had a VL exec about 5 years ago, had the clock/pov dash. I fitted a tacho dash and all I had to do was unplug the old and fit the new, everything on it worked. Can't remember what it actually had but it all worked. I had to buy an oil pressure sender, piss easy to fit, and the plug is tucked inside the loom in the engine bay, just follow the wire for the low level sensor, that you'll remove, and you'll find another blue wire tucked inside the wrap for the loom, just pull it out and tuck the other one in. Also, on the dash plug, you need to move 1 wire, can't remember which one, but if you don't the oil pressure will read full scale all the time. I changed the wire and it all worked fine, pressure sat at one level and increased with acceleration and settled when cruising etc. Don't quote me as it was so long ago I can't recall, but it was omething like pin 7 to pin 12, or 13, I know where it has to go is empty, that's one thing, no wire fitted to it at first. Hope this all helps. I'm trying to sell my VT supercharged V6 and am looking at going back to a VL, I want a 5 speed Calais or Berlina that's optioned up to Calais specs, with interior if I can find it. Currently there's 2 I'm keen on, one of each, both sound very sweet.
    P.S.
When I registered, another w slipped into my username, can anything be done to remove the second one, it shouldn't be there.
    Thanks.
