Is it possible to drop a vn-vs dash into a vl? along with door trims etc?
Has anyone done this and could shed some light on the process?
I've seen attempts at the dash, its far from a drop in job. Unless your talking about just the cluster, that wouldn't be so hard.
The door trim pods can be put on vl trims, but to put the entire trim on again, far from easy.
Maybe look at vinyl dieing the exsisting dash and retrimming the interior?
Its possible but not easy. The dash is wider and may have trouble fitting in to your car without some serious modification because VL's are a bit smaller than the VN-VS.
ive seen a vt dash and center console in a blue vl around adelaide a while ago.
If you're determined enough, and you know what you're doing, its definately doable...a few years ago I remember seeing photos online of a VB that a guy had installed a VS dashboard in, i think he also had VS SS seats, and VL doortrims with the VS speaker pods...looked damn good, too. He did mention that it was a damn hard job though...might not be a good idea if you don't have a lot of experience mucking about with cars.

If it cant be off the road for more than 3weeks, dont bother. You need that much time to get the dash, wiring and the sorts wired up and in.
Allow a good month of constant fiddiling and trying.
Im all for doing it but your gonna have to take your time and get it sweet.
Alot of lining up, trimming, refitting, removing, trimming, fitting etc. etc.
Give it a month easy.

the VL is one and a half inches narrower on the outside than the later models
I guess its about this much narrower on the inside
Car can be off the road for as long as needed. Have a **** box festiva to use as a daily
Would it be easier to work a VN/VP dash in?
My dash isn't in the best condition at present so thinking either gonna try and customise the vl one or swap to a later model one.
Don't know which would give better results :S
I'd say customize the VL one, take everything out do some work on it, spray it whatever you need to do and then shove it back in.
technically yes, but stilll no.....
The VN/Vp has the vents in the dash which would eliminate the issue youll have with door skins, however, there the same size dash so youll still have the same issues with trying to fit it into the car.
Stick with the VR/Vs style one, would look so much better. This sounds like a fun project, i wana help

hey guys, im looking into doing the same sorta thing.
anyone with any dash conversion expierience in melbourne?
all of the vl dash speedo's are cable driven, and all the vn onwards are electronic, you will need to buy a speedo sender to suit the dash conversion.
This is good site to watch.I found it informative as I have been researching a lot lately on such matters such as you talk about.
