Hey im lookin to get a new exhaust for my n/a VL, i was thinking of getting 3'' but only coz i want it quite loud and i am gonna turbo it just not quite yet (planing to do within the next 6 months)
Every where i ring tells me not to get that and to get 2 1/4 but i dont wanna waste the money on that now and then have to get a whole new exaust when the turbo comes..
I want it to be loud but not like most commodores sound i.e drowny and really low.. does anyone have any ides on what would sound the best ?
Oh and its manual dunno if that will make a difference. thanks in advanced.
me like i have said to u... go 3" with no muffler just the resi will sound loud but mite drone... the lowest u shud go personally is 2.5" with just a resi if ya want loudness
You will loose power and it will drone. It will still drone with a 2.5. Everyone reccomends a 2.25 exhaust for N/A vls.
I have fitted Lukey 2 1/2" on VL's for years and they don't drone. There is a 3" available made by Manta, and also, when it comes time to turbo it, if it's a factory turbo you are using, all you need to do is get the engine pipe to suit the turbo and it will bolt up to the rest of the system.

ive got a cat back sat dangerling under my berlina
only a month old before it came off the road.
its 2 1/4" straight though with no rear resis.
might sell it if you offer the right price.

Get the exhaust after the Turbo conversion?
Yeah don't do anything, do your turbo conversion then put on the 3"
^^^ um... ok then this guy is not reli lookin for pwr all he wants is the sound.. mite as well go for the 3" if hes gettin the turbo l8er on instead of 2.5"... but if ur not getting a turbz just go 2.5".... or do nothin at all n wait till u get the turbo then get the exhaust up to u though m8 its ur money
Lol, Yeah mate. I'd reccomend you wait it out, till you get your turbo. No point double-handling expecially when its going to waste money.But if you decide not to go the conversion. Go 2.5inch, or 2.25.
