hey
well i got back to my car after work and saw that my boot lock was gone. just a big black hole there now.
who the hell does this?
was just wondering, is it easy to get a new boot lock peice? or do i have to get the whole lock again. coz the release and all that is still on, its just the key hole thats gone.
cheers
sabby
any broken remains in the boot?
its popular to use a slide hammer to 'explode' the lock as its made of brittle zinc, then use the screw driver blade to turn the latch and open the boot
same method apparently works on ignition lock
I guess the lesson is dont leave anything worth stealing in the boot
I have a wagon and its easy for them to see in....
it seems that due to wear in the locks, any VL key will open almost any VL, so you wonder why the thieves cant be more sensible
another stolen car survey rates the VL as the third most stolen model, surprising when you consider there wouldnt be that many of this 20 year old model left on the roads now
yeah but where else am i going to put my subs n amps?
theres about 2.5k worth of stuff in the boot. thing im confused about is, how did they fnd out and y didnt they take anythng. jus snap off the lock and leave it there. guess they got scared away
some people.....
hook a 12 volt line up to your bootlock
1995 Manual HSV Clubsport
Wade Cam :: 9.2:1 CR :: Pacemaker headers :: Twin 2.5" Exhaust :: VT Brakes
1991 Supercharged VN Berlina
9 PSI SC14 Intercooled :: Genie headers :: Twin cats :: HM Twin 2.25 exhaust :: 3.45:1 LSD
12v... OUCH!
I guess you got lucky, and yeah it's pretty easy to get another lock for your boot, just go to the wreckers, and then take it to a key cutter, get them to redo the tumblers so it matches your ignition key, easy stuff. Failing that, remove it altogether.
