G'day everyone any help would be unreal. me vl's running rough as i had a mechanic look at it and of course on the day it decided to work fine and worked fine for bout a week. then i get half way down the shops the other day and it does the same thing. Ill start it up and it might sound good for a sec then it goes a little rough, give it rev and it shakes around heaps and just sounds like it dont wanna go. there was a bit of black smoke coming out the exhaust. so yer any ideas or suggestions would be awsome.
cheers.![]()
loose connection to AFM?
fuel pump on the way out?
does the fuel pump sound noisy?
if theres black smoke from the exhaust and it running rough i would be sus on the o2 sensor! but there not cheap as i got a price for one yesterday @ $155 from repco and $130 from supercheap!
sounds like you need to replace the afm
Cheers for that i mucked around with the screw on the AFM, my idle srew, did a diagnostic test and cleaned all my connections up and its going bloody perfect. So im hoping thats it.
good to hear mate .......sometimes also a blocked cat will cause similar problems
take your car to an exhaust joint thats what i did they will find it very quickly if its blocked to test an afm just get another one of a mates car or borrow one and try it on yours easiest way! its only like four allen key screws i think
hrmmm im having same problem... anyone know what the test voltages on the afm shud be ?
unbolt the cat from exhaust 4 bolts and inspect.
easy.
i had this prob a month ago, took my car to a property i go shooting on...killer driveway/dirt roads not good for a lowered car, but hey its a HOLDEN
while leaving the car sounded quiet with no power.....
wacked the cat and heard bits moving around inside as i suspected i had smashed the internals(honeycomb porceline crap whick blocked my exhaust)
got home unbolted it and found my problem
between 1.26V which is lean and 1.32V which is rich base settings
Just for interests sake
3.6V is factory which is lean and with 2.0V Being rich
dude set it to 3.5V(resistance is 375 ohms)
or set it off the ECU holding engine at 2000 rpm adjust untill both LEDS are flashing together
warm engine..
unbolting a cat is a small job only 4 bolts :P and costs nothing
have you checked the ect sensor blowing black smoke could be running rich due to the ect giving incorrect engine temp to ecu common problem on vl's due to corrosion check for air leaks behind the air flow meter
it is on lpg and has had a backfire on the previous owner . i have just got the car home (on a trailer) and am trying to fix . i have found it has no spark
cas which is the crank angle sensor mate...before you change that check that the 2 leds are on in the computer when ignition is turned on if they are on it will be your cas
why are we repeating this in another thread...
use your search, all we seem to do on here is repeat and repeat.
