i have just bought a unregsted vl calais n/a rb30 ect, and its been sitting in a shed for about 2 years! the prob is that the brake fluid was low (but not empty) and everytime the car has been started and then turned off there is a ticking sound that comes from the booster? any help would be great!
p.s the car being unregsted has not been driven on the road so i cannot say the brakes work real well but they seem to pull the car up when moving it around the yard and into the garage ect..
anyone got any ideas??
The ticking could be the vacuum bleeding down after switch off. Having sat for so long, the shaft that goes into it could be a bit rusty and sticky, and any movement could cause a tick.
id do what not_a_abba_fan suggested and check the shaft in the booster to make sure there is not rust, if there is youll need another booster.
if i had to replace the booster, could i just do the vt upgrade? e.g go to the wreckers and pull a vt v6 booster of another commodore and bolt it up to the lines already on the car? (probably wishfull thinking:P)
probably not a good idea as it is designed for the ABS try and get one from a vn-vp instead
