    Default Chasing information on the vl turbo 5 speed box

    Hi there all,
    Is there any ratio difference between the n/a 5 speed and the turbo 5 speed?

    I saw this post the other day but thought somebody would have replied. I'll have a dig and see if I can find the manual cd and find out for you. Probably won't be until tonight or tomorrow night.

    VL Commodore Specifications

    # 5 speed Manual Transmission:

    * 1st: 3.321:1
    * 2nd: 1.902:1
    * 3rd: 1.308:1
    * 4th: 1.000:1
    * 5th: 0.759:1
    * Reverse: 3.382:1

    # 5 speed Heavy Duty (fitted to Turbo) Manual Transmission:

    * 1st: 3.580:1
    * 2nd: 2.077:1
    * 3rd: 1.360:1
    * 4th: 1.000:1
    * 5th: 0.760:1
    * Reverse: 3.636:1

    Thanx for the reply guys this helps alot, I am putting a turbo gear box in a n/a vl, hope this will work well.......

    It will be turboed soon..............

    I had the mx7 in my n/a for a while until I turbo'd it. I got a really poorly maintained box. So hopefully the one you got was in good condition. Because as far as I'm aware parts are limited or non existent.

    But it's good to see your doing the gearbox before the turbo, too many people bypass it.

    Yeah... i reckon... parts are a bitch.. Thats why so many ppl putting r33 etc boxes in their vl's.

    Speaking of which, any pointers on telling what sorta condition your tranny is in? Mine feels ok and strong but im not sure what im looking for lmao.
