howdy all. managed to pick up an rb 25 head for 100bucks, my question is who out there has done this conversion to there vl?
I just want to clear a few things up before i start pulling things apart.
will the rb25 head bolt straight to the rb30?shud i use the rb25 ecu? can i use my inlet and exhaust manifolds. any info appreciated
the germans designed it, the aussies built it, the japs got it moving and the wogs got it dosing...
I think depending on the head there might be an issue with an oil/water line, from memory?
you will need the rb25 manifolds.
you'll also need to get creative RE: the ecu - as the rb25 head doesn't have provision for a distributor (which is what the vl ecu uses to get a crank/cam position signal, and uses for ignition)
As far as i'm aware the rb25's run a multiple coil setup.
There's a slight modification to the block required for a 2nd timing belt tensioner (just a hole drilled and tapped)
there's a site somewhere around detailing the conversion in pretty intricate detail. - google for it![]()
for non turbo applications put the head on. if you are going to turbo then don't put the head on, stay with the single cam head, it'll have better air velocity. I researched the arse out of this idea for myself.
hey guys hopefully this will be of sum help cant remember wot site i found it but there is a lot of useful info in here.
thanks 4 that sum good info in there....
