will bigger rotors and bigger
v8 brake calipers fit onto a standard vl 6cyl strut
it seems that the 290mm rotors dont want to fit with the v8 calipers on my strut
ARE they different ???????????
need help asap
thanks Dan

you'll need the v8/turbo rotors to fit the calipers. plus the 1" master cylinder.
lol, bangers read his post again.
I'm positive that you don't need to change the strut, I should have my copy of the workshop manual, that 7 book one, I should have it today or tomorrow, if I find it I'll print out the pages showing the brakes on both models.
Dan , you have to get the caliper brackets off v8 or vl turbo, or off any commo with the 289mm diam rotors say, vn s pac,v8, vp series 2, or any vr-vs. the brackets on the smaller 270mm rotors r too small .regards Baza
how u mean the brackets i have the ventilated turbo calipers and the bigger rotors 290 which are supposed to fit vn spac and vl turbo/v8 everyones asked did i push the piston all the way back and i know i did cause i had the piston out to check for damage im confused lol

I think you need to be a bit more specific. What exactly are you have trouble with? What isn't fitting?
Calipers/ Pads aren't fitting over the rotors as far as I know?
rotors fit car no problems
calipers fit lines and will bolt up only if there are no pads in calipers
as soon as you put the pads in the calipers wont slide over the rotor and will conflict with mounting bracket pads are right as well

OK, make sure the slides are moving freely, make sure the piston is pushed back in all the way, it will be almost flush with the caliper. Make sure that the pads are in properly and pushed hard against the caliper and piston.
is there a difference in pads? there may be thinner pads with a bigger surface area, since they would wear at the same rate i think. maybe worth checking.
This is good site to watch.I found it informative as I have been researching a lot lately on such matters such as you talk about.
Dan, before u push piston into caliper remove some brake fluid from ya master cylinder so the level is just under half so ya dont force any fluid out of m/c cap. best if you use a G clamp to slowly push piston into caliper squarely so piston wont jam in bore. ya pads should be DB1085 on front wheels + same ID number pads do both 270mm + 289mm rotors, good luck.
using winding piston pusher am apprentice mechanic and have actually removed piston for inspection before i put them on the car gonna try puttin them on again this weekend just wondering if there was possibly a difference in strut or caliper mounting calipers were off the car when pistons were pushed back so its not gonna flood the master
let yas know
cheers Dan

Sounds as though the slides aren't moving back far enough to allow the caliper to go over the rotor. Are they moving freely?
yeah slides have also been removed and regreased ill double check but i think it might be the rotor thickness have to find out
get back to ya's

Can't be the rotor thickness if the calipers have fit them previously.
