Vl Turbo Problem
hey all just wondering if anyone knows anything bout vl turbos.
i have raised the boost to 14psi then put a exhaust on it. it sounds like a loud whining sound coming from the turbo also at full rpm it doesnt hold boost? but when i lower it to 6 its fine
whats wrong
im thinking that its either the turbo is blown or fuel pump i dunno.
cause it makes a weird noise like spiking at full boost.
please help

yeap but the strange thing is that it was running fine for like a month before i put the exhaust on........ then it just started to get worse, the noise is more noticable, but also could be the weather is getting colder as i live in armidale nsw. dunno?

Sounds like you might have some sort of exhaust leak.
Are you running an intercooler and are all the pipes nice and airtight?
intercooler is all good, as i stated before, this has only happened after i have gone from stock exhaust to 3" dump back
there is no leaks
is it stock turbo ... also could be pinging if u have stock injectors.. try bumping it back down to around 10 and see how it goes ...

i have tried putting it back to 10 and it still does it
it isnt pinging as i have had it running at 14 for about a month and it just randomly happend.
the boost is now at 6psi and it doesnt make any noise, it also sounds like a chuffing noise... but yeah when it hits full boost it does the noise and looses power

14psi getting a bit high for stock turbo mate,
have you made sure the pipe to the mouth of your turbo hasn't got any leak's,crack's ect? just an idea because mine dropped of and i certanly heard it more, but ran like a dog cause a/f metre couldn't get the reading's it needed, are you running standard ecu?

Told ya dont mess with it as stated above 14 is high for a stock turbo.....
Just drive it at 6psi and live with it if not get a 8.
yeah stnd ecu and afm etc etc pretty sure its the turbo... any ideas what to do:

should i get a turbo from ebay bout $300
bigger turbo and new manifold with external wastegae $1000

I thought it was only $1000 to get a t3 highflowed???? Ebay turbos??? some people say they are junk and some people say they have been running them for years with no problems.

$1500 is way to high for a highflow
thats almost the cost of a 35/40
ok so can anyone tell me the cheapest and best place in NSW to get it hi flowd i can pull it off and send it away to them but just wanting to know how much and a company name please.

you would be better of just buying a different turbo mate, instead of hi flowing, or buy one that already is.
jump over to calaisturbo.com.au - Powered by vBulletin they have a for sale section, be able to find one there that fits the standard manifold mate, if not i have a t3/t4 you can buy
how much u sellin ur t3/t4 for?
and will it use existing manifold and oil lines etc?
