firstly i searched around before i posted this...
i have just bought a VL and have found that when i start it up and let it run for 10 mins it will just stop running. the guy i bought it off had some guy come out and look at it and was told it had something to do with the dizzy overheating. just wondering what it is that could be the problem with the dizzy?

you say in your post that it coughed and spluttered before it stopped ... mine just stops, goes from idle to nothing with no funny sounds or anything could it be something else
Just a quick note, did you happen to wash down the engine?
Sometimes people buy VL's for thr first time and give them a good wash, which if done incorrectly can cause quite a few problems.
so i did a quick diagnostic check and it cam up with codes 11 and 12 ... now 11 is CAS but why would the AFM have a error code as well?
oh and i also found a vacuum line on the passenger floor that was sucking coz it wasnt conected to anything, it came from under the dash .. any idea were this could go?
As the other bloke said, fix the CAS first and don't forget to do the bearing in the distributor.
Once the CAS is sending correct signals to the ECU (Computer)then you may find the other problems may not exist.
Having said that, like most of us VL owners we know the CAS or the Power Transistor bolted to the Distributor will cause you the most heart-ake in older VL's.
As said before, fix the CAS and dizzy and things should be ok.![]()
