    later changes in economy mode?
you not mean later changes in pwr mode (changes through the gears at a higher rpm in pwr mode?)

Leave the button OUT when doing under 80kmph and push it in when doing over 80kmph. Driving with it in doing under 80kmph makes the tranny shift into higher gears doing lower revvs putting stress on the gearbox and worsening your fuel economy. Pretty sure Ive heard that it can severly damage your gearbox if you drive with the button in all the time.

Yes, Having the pwr button OUT it holds gears longer and only has 3 gears.

Having the pwr button IN makes the tranny change gears earlier and also allows the transmission to change into 4th gear (over drive).

Drive with the pwr button OUT untill you hit 80kmph and then push it in when doing 80kmph+ for best fuel economy.

There always seems to be a bit of confusion when it comes to VL automatics.

Simply, the power button selects o/drive or 4th gear, makes no difference to shift patterns.

In later model commodores it does, but not in a VL.

The turbo auto might be different but it does change the shifting pattern of the n/a gearbox.
