button on the auto shifter for power/ economy,, when the button is out and displays pwr i assume that is power mode ?
which would make economy mode when button is clicked in?
what does it actually do if much at all?
someone says holds revs out longer?
only new to this please dont laugh..hahaha
had mostly fords in the past
got me self a vl 6cyl auto now
have to start somewhere,, dont the best part so far!!
DITCHED THE FORDS FOR A REAL CAR !!!!!!
yeah thats true. later changes in eco mode. power uses more fuel but.
This is good site to watch.I found it informative as I have been researching a lot lately on such matters such as you talk about.
later changes in economy mode?
you not mean later changes in pwr mode (changes through the gears at a higher rpm in pwr mode?)
Leave the button OUT when doing under 80kmph and push it in when doing over 80kmph. Driving with it in doing under 80kmph makes the tranny shift into higher gears doing lower revvs putting stress on the gearbox and worsening your fuel economy. Pretty sure Ive heard that it can severly damage your gearbox if you drive with the button in all the time.
Yes, Having the pwr button OUT it holds gears longer and only has 3 gears.
Having the pwr button IN makes the tranny change gears earlier and also allows the transmission to change into 4th gear (over drive).
Drive with the pwr button OUT untill you hit 80kmph and then push it in when doing 80kmph+ for best fuel economy.

cant wait to get it bak next month

There always seems to be a bit of confusion when it comes to VL automatics.
Simply, the power button selects o/drive or 4th gear, makes no difference to shift patterns.
In later model commodores it does, but not in a VL.

is the power button on when pressed in or pressed out?
thats right, the torque converter lock upis rooted on my na calais and i put it in power mode at first but it used toomuch fuel so i disconnected the plud for the tc lockup clutch and put it back in eco so its not as bad untili decide whether i want tofix it or go manual

someone mentioned pwr/economy light on dash when in power mode lights up?
is that on just the tacho dash cluster?
or on all the types of dash clusters?
if so where is the light meant to be as mine dont come on if i have one
PWR comes up in yellow in middle of dash on same plain as indicator green arrows, red lights showing brakes, battery ect. Martin
any ideas why mine dont work?
globe buggered??
any ideas?
Probably the switch behind button sticking or poor contact, try flicking button a few times, worked on mine. Can prise apart CAREFULLY and clean switch also at worst.Martin
You can also select power mode by stamping on the accelerator, see if that brings up the PWR light,if not maybe plown bulb.Cheers Martin
