tool may be the wrong size, you may need a nail, the pins are hollow so may seem to be not there

use pointy vice grips, clamp on flared end and hit up or down (depends on which pin)
    can use multi grips

makes sure the little cylinder nuts is the right size, think theres to sizes from memory. the one from my work was too big so we ordered in a smaller size and it worked

soak it with crc, wd40 or rp7, leave over night to makes it penitrates well

i had the same prob with one of the pins on my vls door, some nob from before used a bigger pin and hammered it in

Good to hear you got it done and 20 bux isnt to bad.
I tryed to get the photo for you but realised VK ones are different, VL door pins are the same as Vn correct? As thats what i though, but if they are the same a VK then my method doesnt work.

The pins from the VB through to the VL are the same. Sometimes the pins are damaged at the factory when they are installed if the hinge on the door is not aligned with the hinge part on the pillar Worked at G.M.H for a number of years and bent my share ( sorry if one of them was yours ha ha ) .The pins are made of spring steel and have a groove down the middle . Most pin removal tools are a waste of money . Best to use a drill or bolt of a smaller diameter and belt them out with a hammer . The top pin is removed down through the hinge and the bottom one is removed by hitting it up through the hinge .Another reason that makes them hard to remove is that after the pins are fitted to the door ,the door is then adjusted to suit the car which involves bending the hinge which inturn jams the pin in the hinge.
there are three types of people in the world , those who can count and those who can't
