Hey guys,
Looking at starting a new project and wondering if anyone has done this before and has some hints or tips for doing it... here's my story...
I have a '87 VL Berlina with a RB30E, looking at putting a Holden 304 (EFI 5L) stroked to 383ci into my VL. ALL engine work will be done before it goes into the engine.
Here are my questions:
1. Has anyone put a 304 into a VL?
2. What are some of the main problems encountered when putting a 304 into a VL? I would say there is a problem with the steering rack, crossmembers, cooling system etc. but if you could give me some more input it would be most appreciated
3. Would a 383ci pass engineering in a VL? If not, what would need to be upgraded? (Obviously brakes and suspension, but what else?)
Any and all information would be gratefully appreciated, i'm not looking at starting until i have all the parts sourced and all the information i need to start the project.
Thanks, sheepz89

A 383 stroker will most likely not pass any EPA bull crap though, although it would be MINT.
And yes its been done plenty of times before.
You will also need loom and computer out of donor car.
Not sure about problems with steering rack and what not, but i would say it would be fine, dont VN's share the same setup pretty much, and the 304 is in a vn....
has anyone on here put a 304 into a VL?

HONESTLY OFFICER, IT WAS CONSECUTIVE U TURNS..
a 383 can be made ADR compliant plus they can't tell visually it's a stroker as its the same block etc etc
as said though, loom, V8 k frame, engine mounts, tail shaft, gearbox, suspension parts ( springs, shocks to cope with extra weight ), cooling system, steering and.... brakes
