    Default Best diff??

Just wondering if anyone knows what the best diff to use in a VL is?? I've heard nothing but good things about the VL Turbo/V8 diffs, but wondering if later model LSD's will fit into a VL with little to no modification? Cheers.

later model LSDs are 28 spline. your VL is probably 25 spline

VN-VS ran the same Borg Warner M78 diff as the VL V8 and VL turbo, except they were slightly wider.

So a VL V8 diff or VL turbo diff will be perfect. 28 spline, 4 pinion diff. V8's had a 3.08 ratio whilst the 6's had a 3.45 ratio.

The n/a VL 6 had a 25 spline, 2 pinion version of the diff.

are the v8 vl diffs and vl turbo diffs limited slip or locked? if not, what makes them different (or better) than the standard N/A vl diffs?

stronger differential spider (twice as many carrier gears)and heavy duty halfshafts. (more splines, due to wider diameter.)
This is good site to watch.I found it informative as I have been researching a lot lately on such matters such as you talk about.

    Adding to the previous post...

LSD was only an option (on the V8's atleast) but a rather common option. Some are just single spinners.

As stated in this thread, the V8/Turbo diffs are 4 pinion 28 spline. N/A diffs are 25 spline, 2 pinion.

also the turbo and v8 diff gears are shot peened in borgies for a little extra strength,

the 28 spline 4 pinion version as used in vl turbo and and v8 and from vn onwards was optionable with lsd.
