I need to install a new ignition lock and blinker switch, I know how to get the steering wheel off and have elleries manual but its not clear
thanks
ok I'll bite!
the following is for the whole indicator mechanism (not just the arm/stork)
blinker is easy, remove wheel, hazard light switch and lower steering column cover, remove three black screws behind where the steering wheel was, trace the loom down the column unplug and remove towards yourself.
ignition is fun, do you have a standard wing ignition or a full metal jacket ignition?

thanks, the housing that holds the ign lock is metal if this is what you are asking
a full metal jacket is a security device! not a steering column.

so how do I remove the steering lock?
the blinker switch on the car I use is going wrong, I think at the part that holds it on the right, a plastic and metal arrangement that keeps it in 1 of the 3 arm positions is wearing out, havent looked yet
I managed to get the blinker switch (complete) OUT WITHOUT LOSING THE 3 BLACK SCREWS BUT ONLY THEN NOTICED THE 3 POSITION LIGHT SWITCH AT THE END OF THE ARM doesnt click when it moves, is there any way to fix this as a new blinker switch retails for $180....
back to the ign lock, a bloke will sell me a new one for about $60 but how to fit it? does the steering wheel come off as an auto electrician wants $60 for labour, the present lock doesnt hold key with engine running and I intend to register the VL in NSW where apparently they care about this, not so in victoria

that part is the stalk only, I think harry needs the round plastic switch mechanism where the hazardlight switch screws into, the sliding metal switch has worn the pastic bump away and no longer locks in to position to keep the indicator on
I would be checking your local wrecker and inpsect before you buy as it is quite common after prolonged use that these plastic parts wear out you maybe lucky enough to find one that was recently replaced before it ended up at the wreckers!I did.

I found using a screwdriver to break the slot open and a (or a piece of) hacksaw blade is ideal for depressing the locking latch.

I would like to order the part from oztion but they dont seem to have a street address, or a phone no or an email address, so I lack confidence in them
I thought it was the blinker switch and arm with light switch combined but will make sure, the combined unit is offered for $180 by a local shop
my mistake it is the arm only, should have looked more closely at the picture, I have another blinker switch with a broken arm
cheers for this thread helped me heaps
