Poor old grandads gone, so its time to sell his early86 vl 55000km
it is white...allmost imaculate ( mainly scrathes on the bumpers!) original country car...interior a1. no air con!
as there are not many really originals to compare with i was wondering as to the sort of value ?
Thanks
Adam
If it's in mint condition inside & in the engine bay - maybe $2,000. Not a lot really.
Any rust?
A stock white VL with normal Kms would not get much more than $1,000.
How much are you looking to get?
White 05 V6 VZ Executive - Thrashed Ex Telstra car
and 3 Dangerous non ABS VN's
Yeah, really don't see any standard Vls going for over the 2500 mark.....
Looks pretty mint though, maybe you should keep it for yourself if its possible?

Meh, its just a VL...
yeah... no more than 2.5....
if it was like a VLT or something special maybe but no one cares about a stock'o vl.. sorry dude.
aZk.
If mint condition, no rust etc $2500-3000.
Advertise it on calaisturbo.com.au - Powered by vBulletin There is people out there who would jump on this straight away to begin a turbo build.

collectors are generally more interested in the interior and body condition, if the car was left unused for long periods there may be rust and corrosion in engine, etc and the various fluid seals may have dried out allowing many fluid leaks
drive or get someone to drive the car to exercise it
agree about looking for a car collector to buy it, get documents re the distance travelled, service records, etc
market value would be arround $500 if an insurance company was involved
but id say about 1500 give or take a few hundred
with the price of fuel atm youd be lucky to sell for less than 1500
Q? are you sure it hasnt been round the clock a few times lol
Holy ****, i was hoping to get 1000 for my VL with just under 400,000 on it......

Adam, if the body has no rust and has never been involved in a collision you may be able to get very good money for the car.
VL's with genuine low kilometres will fetch a premium as there are many enthuisiastic young men and woman who would love to buy such a car even though they will have to replace many items applicable to a 20 year old car.
If your opinion is genuine and unbias, I would have the car inspected by a person who has no interest in the car. Automobile associations provide services that can give you an accurate assessment of the car.
Consider that if rust is found around any of the front or rear window areas or the car has been involved in a collision the price of the car would be of average market value.
Having said that, the world is full of trickery and if the car is in great shape, hold-out for a great price.
Personally, I wouldn't suggest or give a price from an image such as you provided, I'd personally inspect the vehicle and then decide on an offer.
Be aware that dealers may give you a very low price.
Individual offers and people in the trade or have the skills to replace 20 year old components may also try to get the vehicle very cheap.
On average people will try to purchase the car as cheap as possible but some may impulse buy at a premium especially if they really want a VL.
In NSW the VL commodore is one of the most powerful average cars that a P plate driver can use. They can't drive V8's or Turbo-charged vehicles and as such they tend towards cars such as the VL.
Best of luck![]()
Thanks guys n gals for the comments, ive allways been involved in volkswagens so im a bit out of touch with older commodores.... i thought around the 5.5k mark...im certainly in no hurry to sell so will hold out for the right person. there is certainly no rust around the screens or any, the car almost never went out in the rain, and has allways been a canberra car, had a service every 6months regardless of kms...carpet looks like new, seats only have been slightly scuffed by the lambswool seat covers on top.

About the 2.5 mark at an absolute premium.
People who go out of their way to buy a VL that is in top condition usually do so for the Calais' or the Turbo or V8 model. A bog stock N/A 3.0 isnt going to get anybodies "juices" flowing nearly as much as a Turbo.
A good market to aim it at would be the "first car buyer" where 2.5k for a car in good condition is going to be a bargain for them. They can spend their own money to molest it down the track when they get sick of the power of the RB30

hey mate
i bought my vl off the original owner.it had 80.000 on the clock and in imac condition..i payed 5grand for it.. i didnt even bargain with him..a few months back i was rear ended .assesors had a look at the car and valued it at 5grand..so id say yours would be the same sorta case.. if i were sellin id advetise for 5500 in hope of getting 5000
the germans designed it, the aussies built it, the japs got it moving and the wogs got it dosing...
Thanks all $5500 is about what i thought, car has been a garaged queanbeyan car all its life and has no rust that i can find!..
Will be for sale shortly.
don't sell for less than 5k. a serious collector will snap it up for a museum piece or private collection. There may be no others with km's like that and in the condition you described, they all have rust around the windscreen, so if yours doesn't and its factory original then thats already a very special VL
I cant believe it, went to put this car in JUST cars magazine and got rejected.....original oldies VL commodore with 56k not exclusive enough!
Pah!!!!!
I'd suggest selling it for an acceptable price (or loaning it) to one of the Holden Museums, at least you know it's going to the right place
How much you guys recon a 1988 VL berlina is worth 31,000 ks mint condtion no rust to be seen 1 old man owner.
Just about to put mine out for sale for around 5k... be sad to see it go, but never gets driven..... Good luck
Well i own a 87 holden berlina, bought it from a car sales, one owner from new 57000 k's on the clock, i bought that for 6 thousand. Currently insured for 12 thousand. Photo's coming soon keep in touch for some pics bud.
They are worth a fair bit if kept in good nick, Mine doesn't have a scratch, ding or anything wrong with it, only thing that is changed is a good sound system in the beast.
So yeah if you can find someone they will buy it. Have had offers of 16 grand to buy it off me, just can't part with it.
Btw i am in new zealand so keep that in mind
