Mods on a car before RWC.

Hey All

Ive got some time and ive got mod parts im keen to put in my ride, would there be any issues. eg..

i wanna put in vn front seats before rwc. the backseat can wait till after since it might not fit right..

sports exhaust?

anybody had any issues with subs and amp's being installed in the boot during rwc check?

i know silly things like neons and decals would be out of the question..

ive seen extra gauges eg. tacho.. pass before so im aware of that.

pod filter???

Best to wait until after the roadworthy if you can.
Your in qld so this may not apply to you... but the seats legally need to be engineered here, exhaust should be fine aslong as it meets all ADR's, stereo should be fine aslong as your not cutting into the structural integrity of the car, i.e. Parcel shelf.
Decals I dont see why not, and neons should be fine aslong as they have a seperate switch to activate and they are fixed to the car securaly.
POD filter im not sure, but theirs a high chance you will get knocked back if they are picky.

go to a local shop for rwc and not a "large chain" they are less picky in my experience. if you fit a pod it must be in an enclosure (to make it adr compliant).
Stereo and stickers are fine. If your current seats aren't ripped just leave them in for the rwc.

Just drive up to Atherton, we got a coupla auto shops here that will pass just about anything :S

It's worth giving it a shot either way, if it's not roadworthy you generally just take it away, fix what's wrong, bring it back and they sign off on it. Assuming that it's registered already.

Just common sense most things are. If your rear seat isn't secured they won't let you pass, it'll have to be secure. If you put VN seats in and they're securely positioned down and move forward/back up/down they'll pass you.

As for pod, I just got passed with my pod. I guess it may depend where you go.

didn't the later VL's share the same seats as the early VNs anyway? Not sure where i'm getting that info though! just recall hearing it.

ur best off with gettin roady first den putting mods on or u can do it like many ppl do in vic have ur mods on get a dogy roady for 200 buks wifout da guys even checking da car out, but when u get dogy roady u will have headaches wen selling da car

yeah shes been roadworthy since a week after i made the 1s post, only needed a new exhaust, dam the price of a cat! and some bushes, but shes good now for mods!! haha
