hi i just brought a vl wagon for $140 for a paddock basher but it wont rev above 5000rpm. its sits on highway speed fine but takes a lil longer to get there. does any1 know wat it could be???
timing, fuel issue
give it a service, new oil and filters, new plugs and leads. The air:fuel ratio can be adjusted using 2 screws. I cant remember exactly how to do it but there is a guide on here.
Im not a VL person, but there are alot on here tham i sure someone could help you with
it may be an electrical issue, grab some RP7 or WD40 and clean out electrical connections (afm connection, coil connections etc). use an air compressor to blow them dry, then spray some battery terminal protector on them and reconnect the terminals. this worked for me. just make sure to do them one at a time, coz if something screws up, it will be easier to pinpoint where something went wrong
hope this helps
could also be a blocked cat. My VLT did similar but wouldnt rev past 4500rpm, bashed the guts out of the cat, problem solved

hey fellas thanx for the helpi left her sittin through the week and started it today and she sounded like a charf cutter on a tractor lol im pretty sure shes blown motor hehe might aswell take it up bush and burn it weeeeeeee
ll dont take it up bush and burn it. Sell the dam thing, make $500+ bucks and buy a new TV. Or spend $300 bucks, get a new engine and drop it in.
At very least do some diagnostics on it.
