either cut the seat appart to get to the clips at the base off the post
or
using a pair of long needle nose pliers or a screw driver carefully slide it down the posts and unlatch the clips, really fidderly and you have to do it blind
why you wanting them off?
trying to use them for a rear seat?

if you want full head rest (not hollow) you would want a set of series 2 calais front seats
but then again you will have to source them and someone would want a mint for them,
so its a catch 22, do you bother possibly wreaking seats or dont you

well i already have full ones in the back and a set of full ones for the front. Just need to change em from the hollow ones.
Got them out of a vb wagon that had headrests front and back. so i changed the whole back seat and thort it would be easiest to just change the front headrest instead of swapping the whole seats.

swap the front seats, would be best option as then they will be the same trim and pattern as rears
just get under the car a spray the bolts with rp7 or wd40 to losen them, they normally rust shut good so give it a good soaking
then it should be only 4 bolts each seat

you could have a drama on the passenger side where the cat is on the floor theres a hump that the vb doesn't have and the vl rails are 2 different heights for the pass seat. It will still bolt in but it will sit on an angle and u need to modify the rail slightly for the front bolt next to the tunnel so it can have all 4 bolts in
