    Smile diff internals

hey guys i've found a complete vl disc brake rear end for sale (diff axles disc brakes bla bla) for NZ $250 that right im posting this from kiwi land

it is out of a 2-litre vl (yup we got the rb20 over here as well as the rb30 in our vl's) however it is not an lsd.

i was actually after a vl turbo or vl v8 disc brake rear end with lsd, (prefer the ration of the turbo one tho), so wuld it be a gud idea (or is it even possible) to spend $250 on this rear end and buy lsd internals (a guy in Oz sells them for AU $275 or sumthing)?

or should i just keep looking round locally for one?

    thanks

found another one locally its a borg warner lsd off a 93 el fairmont, is it possible to swap the internals (centre and axles etc) into my standard NA rb30 25 spline 3.45 diff housing? i know it says the centres will but what about the axles?

this is the spec for the lsd
    3.23 ratio
    limited slip centre
    28 spline axles
these centres will swap wth other borg warner live axle set ups, vk-vr commodore
selling complete incl disc brakes, callipers.
    removed from 93 el fairmont

    cheers fellas

not gonna fit in your diff, the turbo and v8 are 4 pinion 28 spline, while the one you have like all NA diffs is a 2 pinion 25 spline. you guys have rb30 skylines over there? and the 4cyl pintara things? those are 25 spline like the na vl diffs

The na vl is unique as its the only holden with this 25 spline 2 pinion borg warner, the vn onwards use the 28 spline 4 pinion.

but if i use everything 28-spline including diff center, axles etc, will i be able to use the standard diff housing?

yea we got the rb30 skyline not sure bout the pintara. do they both have disc/ lsd rear ends? and will the whole rear end of one bolt straight to the vl or do i just put all the internals gears axles etc into my standard vl diff housing?

just the nissan diff internals will be of any use, they have pokier ratios than the holden as well, i think the silouette skyline had lsd standard? brakes wont fit as they are totally different, same with whole diff

Some VK's use the Borg Warner diff....only difference is it has a 3.23:1 ratio centre and the actual diff housing itself is a little shorter in width.

thats beyond my basic knowledge. try at calaisturbo if you haven't already, they would have tackled this question.

Not 100% sure....but.....everything from a VL turbs/V8 diff will fit the VL NA 6 diff, as long as u keep the gear 2gether....like the 28 spline axles and the 28 spline centre.

With the VK diffs, they are a bit shorter in width, so I'd assume everything would fit EXCEPT the axles....so no good putting the 28 spline centre in the VK diff unless u get the axles shortened a bit.

For my wagon, I tracked down a borg warner diff from a VK wagz, then bought a 25 spline LSD off ebay. Not sure wat the LSD come out of (wat car), but it come out of a borg warner 78 series diff so should be fine.

Older Fords used the 25 spline LSD's and were a Borg Warner diff (got one out the back with an LSD in it ).

Pintara's don't have LSD, but have 4.11 gears , R31 Skyline's have 3.9's in auto's and 3.7's in manuals, and if u find a Silhouette model it will have LSD.....but they are 28 spline.
