no probs easy stuff
the stick on type thermostat gasket is easier to use, with an ordinary new gasket the job can be fiddly to get everything lined up
so was old thermno crook ?
dunno mate havnt checked it yet but deffinently runs cooler so it looks like it must have been, i just bought some gasket material down at supercheap and made my own gaskets, do that sort of **** at work so it was all good

u can test by boiling the thermos in hot water and see if they open and close
yeah the genuine thermostat didnt respond to the hot water.
