Default another question about thermostat

Where the f%^ck is it lol,

sorry guys but i am trying to replace the thermostat on my brothers vl but when i checked the housing it was nowhere to be seen, correct me if i am not wrong but it is the top hose of the rad that the thermostat is in sync with?

Ive tryd to look on here and the net also on how to replace it and didnt find much atall, any help would be muchly apreciated.

the stick on type thermostat gasket is easier to use, with an ordinary new gasket the job can be fiddly to get everything lined up
