guys i was thinking of putting a vk electronic dash in my vl and need to know whats involved,is it easy to hook up or not,has anyone done one before.....
LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of wiring. It will physically fit thats about it. You will need alot of work to make it fully functional.
People arnt game enough to change their normal one in a VK to it due to the wiring, and a VL will be alot harder because of the RB30 and different box.
im not running a rb30,its a 5ltr and couldnt be to hard providing i get all of the loom, wouldnt it be plug and play..........
The question is, why? They're known for having a lot of problems, not to mention they're ugly :P Stick with a VL Dash![]()

I'm thinking of making a custom dash and center console or something for my white VL coz it'l be off the road until jan next year and i want to install or attempt to install a VZ instrument cluster & the heater/air cond controls into the beast .
But a mate of mine said that i'd need a moddified VY/VZ BCM to make the gauges work , can anyone confirm this ?
yeah it's probobaly a realy dumb idea but it helps kill the bordem as i can't do much to the car until i get it registed . Plus it would look good if it's done right . Cheers
has anyone got a pic of a vk electronic dash? ive never seen one
This is good site to watch.I found it informative as I have been researching a lot lately on such matters such as you talk about.
The VL has a few extra bits of sheet metal spot welded on top of the original piece which normally holds the dash.....and it uses totally different mounting points, like for screws and stuff. Not a huge problem tho, I got a VL dash in my VK and it can still be mounted pretty easy......you'd just have to drill out all the spot welds holding the extra few bits on, so u can remove them.

VK electronic dash displays were very unreliable and failed often and couldnt be repaired, a replacement one cost a fortune
they were quietly abandoned on the next model
sweet, thanks for the comments guys...i only had seen one in a vk calais and was quite amazed as i think thay look cool, but hay if its to much trouble and unrelible than stuff it as i will stay with the tacho dash but just make it cleaner, can you still get the plastic that covers the tacho, new that is......
